Learning from wind and air. Belgium Challenges and Box.
We received the Belgium challenges and box! So excited. For everyone
at school.
The challenge is to explore from a balloon rocket. Meanwhile, we are
learning about wind by providing children with different materials. Children are concerned that the wind moves
the clouds in the sky. It can move sailboats on the water. Together with
children, we are thinking of different ways they can make the air move and
create a breeze (blowing, waving the hands, using a fan, etc.). We asked if they know of any tools or
machines that move air (hair dryers, fans, etc.).
We started to find out that air is invisible but we can
breathe it and also play with it, as you can see in this video.
Inspired by the artist Daniel Wurztle best known for his
kinetic sculptures and installations using air and lightweight materials that
fly we had the chance to watch how different materials danced in the air.
Propelled into motion by just an air pump we could see something that is
invisible, the aerodynamic properties of these materials, and the underlying
order within these inherently chaotic airflow systems are revealed in a way
that can be continuously observed.
